Trash the Dress | Rock the Frock

I had SO much fun shooting this practice Rock the Frock/Trash the Dress session with the beautiful, patient and enigmatic Lin.  I’d also been itching to shoot these unique murals.

She braved the cold, climbed a tree for me, contributed stripey socks and a diy fall leaf bouquet- and above all, looked stunning and whimsical doing it.  I hope to do more of these shoots- so fun, and delightful!

Paris & Emma Preview- CONGRATS!

So I’ve known Emma since we were teeny, and had bowl-cuts and played dress-up constantly.  Today I got the honor of celebrating her SUPER SPONTANEOUS engagement party- turned WEDDING!  Those tricky love birds.

They chose their neighborhood watering hole as their venue, were wed by the bar tender, and throughout it all had such a sense of joy, fun and spontaneity.  Congratulations!  Here is a preview of photos from their special day.

This is when we still thought it was an engagement party, and then…. I love all the looks of surprise and joy for the happy couple…

Bird Flying South

A preview of today’s photo shoot with Bird Flying South, my friends Chris and Emily’s amazing Portland band.

We journeyed to Sauvie Island for the most dazzling Sunday afternoon…

With colors this vibrant, and artists this photogenic, I couldn’t help myself from diving right into these images.

More to come!

Many Voices One Vision: Ending Domestic Violence

This is the AMAZING organization I work for, VOA Home Free.  I am so honored to work with such incredible coworkers, and participants in our survivor-centered, housing-first program.

I got to spend one amazing work day taking photos for this mini-documentary about Home Free, with my coworker Allison Schultz (check our her work at http://robandaliphotography.com/) Some of the B&W photos are mine, thanks for watching.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Thoroughly enjoyed a treat of a holiday, with a Monday off.  Enjoyed TWO hikes with my amazing Mom and oh-so-adorable doggie, Athena.  We went in pursuit of autumn foliage, and couldn’t have been more awed.  The Hoyt Arboretum and Lower Maclay Trails at Forest Park are some of my favorite urban forests, and the fall colors are out in full!  Couldn’t resist some puppy portraits (or, being ‘that person’ who costumes my dog).

If you’ve been considering a family portrait, engagement shoot, etc., etc., the time is perfect! I hope you enjoy the first of many posts, as I transition to this page from our starter Facebook page: Laughing Lens Photography.

Bird Flying South: Music Video & Upcoming Shoot!

Meet my friend Emily!  I have been lucky enough to have loved this wonderful friend more than half my life.  Her wisdom, creativity and zest for a meaningful and textured life are a constant inspiration. As is her musicality!  Her own blog can be viewed at: http://oekoseeker.blogspot.com/I got to shoot a music video of sorts for her and her amazing partner Chris Vita, who together compose Bird Flying South, a delightful Portland duo.  The light was fading, but I loved their interactions, poise in front of the camera and bright orange home.  My filming skills are rudimentary, and although their sweetness and talent shines through, the whole time I was itching for my Cannon.  With a photo shoot scheduled for this weekend, and a show of theirs next week, I’m about to get my wish, and you can too, if you’d like to come see their show!  Images coming soon.
